Introduction

The Book of Common Life is a document intended to secure the theological, ecclesial, and liturgical unity of our Synod while, at the same time, supporting the concept of local response to the needs of the people of God.  The Book of Common Life is divided into three portions.  Common Faith includes the Creedal and Theological Statements upon which the Synod is united.  Common Order represents the basic organizational foundations of the Synod.  Common Prayer outlines the elements shown in the ancient Liturgies of the Church that are considered essential to our liturgical unity in the celebration of the Mysteries (Sacraments) of the Church.  Also included are the synodically mandated forms for all ordination rites and the liturgical calendar for Sundays and Solemnities.
