Within the Timothean Rite, the general calendar of the Western Rite is used as a framework, while at the same time importing Oriential and Eastern Rite features.  The Calendar focuses on Sunday as the chief day of worship and prayer, and ensures that, even those congregations who are only able to meet once a week are able to fully participate in the recollection of the mysteries of the life, death, resurrection, ascension, and second coming of the Christ.

Festivals within the Timothean Rite are almost always found within Gracetide and Kingdomtide, the two exceptions being January 1 (Mary the Theotokos) and the Tuesday following the Second Sunday after Christmas (The Holy Innocents).  Where it is desired to follow a more traditional 'sanctoral calendar', the local bishop has the authority to promulgate a calendar of his choice for use within his congregation.
